Gayna Williams Quinellas Country Championship Heat

It was a big day at the office for popular Bathurst trainer Gayna Williams when she came home with the quinella in the Central West heat of the Country Championsips at Mudgee yesterday.

Ridden for luck by Anthony Cavallo, race favourite Zoo Station finally got a split halfway up the straight to hit the front before fighting off a strong, late challenge by stablemate Tags, to get the cash.

It was a remarkable effort by Tags to finish so close after being slow to jump and missing the kick by a few lengths.

Gayna was also positive about her third starter, El Mo who will now contest the wild card event trying to gain Williams an unprecedented three runners in the final.

Whatever happens, Gayna will certainly be there with at least a couple of very live chances in the final to be held at Randwick on 2nd April. We wish Gayna all the very best of luck and will be cheering her runners home.
