Promising Return By Nicci's Fling

Nicci’s Fling returned to the races yesterday at Randwick in a Benchmark 88 event for fillies and mares over 1200m. It was a very promising return by Nicci, storming home the last 600m in 33.33 to just miss out on the cash but to run a credible 3rd.

After missing the jump, the mare settled further back than jockey Tyler Schiller was planning and, therefore, needed to make up about 8 lengths at the turn. Unfortunately, this proved a task too hard and, after absolutely flying home, Nicci came up just short, beaten a length at the post.

Nicci’s Fling’s run sets up beautifully for when she will get out to her more favoured distance of 1400m. Both Tyler Schiller and trainer Gary Portelli were full of praise for her effort, Gary stating that she has come back better than he’s seen her from any other spell.

We all look forward to her next race.
