ANZAC Weekend Highlights

Poppy’s Girl hit the line well to just miss out at Gosford

The ANZAC weekend proved to be a good three days for Gold Edge Syndications. Saturday saw one of our stable stars, Nicci’s Fling, place third in a Benchmark 88 race at Royal Randwick. After once again having to face the unsuitable conditions of a bottomless track, Nicci’s Fling gave her all and showed that with an ounce of luck and getting on a slightly better surface, a win is not far away.

On Sunday we held our annual Open Day at Gary Portelli’s stables, Warwick Farm, where all of our owners are given the opportunity to get together and see their horses up close and personal whilst enjoying some light refreshments. Fortunately, the weather gods were smiling on us and the day was held in beautiful sunshine, a rarity in recent times

Our 3yo filly, Poppy’s Girl headed up the Pacific Highway to Gosford yesterday for her first run back from a spell. Starting as the $2.50 favourite, Poppy powered home down the outside of a very heavy Gosford track, only to come up just short. With that run under her belt and hopefully on a firmer track, it won’t be long before she is in the winner’s circle.
